An English welcome in the heart of Singapore.
Proper pub food, riverside pints and familiar faces since 1999.

OUR STORY
Singapore’s quintessential English pub, The Penny Black has been part of Boat Quay life since 1999. Step off the riverside and into the warmth of a traditional Victorian London public house.
Designed and built in England by master craftsmen, the pub was shipped to Singapore piece by piece and reassembled here. The timber, brass and familiar bar-room character are all part of its story.
Our name celebrates the Penny Black, the world’s first adhesive postage stamp, issued in Britain in 1840. A little piece of British history, given a home beside the Singapore River.
Come for a leisurely lunch, the match, or a pint after work. Stay for the easy conversation and the pleasure of a proper local.
